“…Nursing can be stressful and, in addition to requiring collaboration, often demands creativity to meet the needs of patients and to address the needs and concerns of patient's families and other nurses or staff (Berg, Hansson, & Hallberg, 1994;Fasnacht, 2003;Mäkinen, Kivimäki, Elovainio, & Virtanen, 2003). Fasnacht (2003) synthesized the meanings of creativity from nursing, business and psychology, and identified three different perspectives explaining creativity. The first perspective, "creativity as revelation, encompasses the idea that creativity is a state of being, the 'aha' that reveals a sudden illumination, and a gift" (p. 199).…”

“…For example, as could be expected, professionals in the arts differ from professionals in the sciences in the types of creative behavior they exhibit (Guastello & Shissler). Review of recent literature reveals that practice professions such as nursing, marriage and family therapy, and occupational therapy are starting to focus on the importance of the practitioner's and the client's creativity in the clinical process (Fasnacht, 2003;Morgan & Wampler, 2003;Schmid, 2004). However, further research is needed to discover the form, function, and meaning of creativity in daily life.…”
