Schools are not the same as schooling. The former implies a place or structure or some form of coherent location for learning to occur. Schooling is the verb, the action, and the process or what takes place within the school. It has no specific locational need. Along with the possibility of moving away from expensive infrastructure to more age-appropriate investments, the pandemic has highlighted this distinction. Alternative schooling may embrace more closely the spaces of high rise living or seek to connect learners with free and open-air spaces of nature. Having a stake in this dynamic process requires imagination and the courage to take a leap into the unknown.
