Abstract-A novel broadband circularly polarized planar monopole antenna fed by coplanar waveguide (CPW) is proposed and fabricated. The proposed antenna consists of a rectangular monopole, an inverted-L strip and an asymmetric ground plane with cutting a horizontal slit on the right ground plane. Firstly, a narrow circularly polarized (CP) radiation at the upper band can be achieved by utilizing the asymmetric ground plane. Then, an inverted-L strip is introduced to obtain broadband CP characteristic matched with wide impedance bandwidth. The measured results demonstrate that a 10-dB bandwidth of 58.8% from 4.8 to 8.8 GHz and a 3-dB axial-ratio bandwidth (ARBW) of 47.8% from 5.375 to 8.75 GHz can be achieved which can completely cover the WLAN (5.725-5.85 GHz) band. Additionally, a 10-dB impedance bandwidth of 24% (3.3-4.2 GHz) with linear polarization is also obtained which can completely cover the WiMAX (3.3-3.7 GHz) bands. In additional, to explain the mechanism of dual-band CP operation, the analysis of magnetic fields distributions and a parametric study of the design are given. Compared to other recent works, a simpler structure, wider axial ratio and impedance bandwidths and a more compact size are the key features of the proposed antenna.

Abstract-A novel asymmetric U-Shaped slot antenna with WLAN application is proposed and fabricated. The proposed antenna consists of an asymmetric U-shaped slot and an inverted L-shaped slot which are designed to applied to WLAN devices, in addition, fed by a coplanar waveguide (CPW) Furthermore, Good agreement is achieved between the measurement and simulation, which indicates that a 10-dB bandwidth of 21.8% from 2.25 to 2.8 GHz which completely cover the WALN (2.4 -2.48 GHz) band is covered in the designed antenna. Meanwhile, compared to other recent works, a single layer structure, and a more compact size are the key features of the proposed antenna.

Abstract-In this paper, a coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed dual-band slot antenna with circular polarization (CP) is presented. In order to achieve CP characteristic, an asymmetric slot and F-shaped end patch are introduced to a conventional rectangular slot antenna. Moreover, by cutting a T-shaped notch on the ground plane, the axial ratio (AR) bandwidth (ARBW) can be extended. The antenna shows left-hand CP (LHCP) radiation in the boresight direction (i.e., +Z direction) at both ARBWs. The proposed antenna is fabricated and measured. The measured results have a good agreement with the simulated ones. The measured impedance bandwidths (|S 11 | < −10 dB) are 1.08 GHz (2.02 to 3.10 GHz, 40% at 2.70 GHz) and 2.31 GHz (4.57 to 6.88 GHz, 39.8% at 5.8 GHz). The two measured ARBWs are 600 MHz (2.60 to 3.20 GHz, 22.2% at 2.70 GHz) and at least 1.15 GHz (4.85 to 6.0 GHz, 19.8% at 5.8 GHz) at the lower and upper bands, respectively.
