CP-ODD NEUTRAL HIGGS EFFECTS IN $t\bar t$ PRODUCTION

Abstract: We study CP violation in the process e + e − → ttνν at an e + e − -TeV collider. As the source of CP violation we assume a two-Higgs doublet model with an explicitly CP -noninvariant Higgs potential. Sizeable CP -odd observables originating from the subprocess reaction, W + W − → tt, may arise as a result of finite width effects of the neutral Higgs particles. CP T constraints due to final (initial) state interactions are also taken into account. Numerical estimates of the CP asymmetry are given. *

“…Furthermore, we find that the strong mixing of the Higgs bosons may induce large CP violation in the vertices [10]. Such resonant effects of CP violation may be tested at future high-energy colliders such as the LHC, NLC and the FMC [10,11,12,13,14,15]. Finally, the analysis presented in this paper clearly demonstrates that the MSSM with explicit CP violation in the Higgs sector constitutes an interesting theoretical framework, which will have a significant impact on B-meson decays, dark-matter searches and electroweak baryogenesis.…”

“…We should now notice that the D symmetry of the Higgs potential cannot be promoted to a continuous one of the Peccei-Quinn type [7], unless λ 5 = 0. To be specific, for vanishing λ 5 , one may choose the Q quantum numbers for the fields 4) and then show that in addition to the gauge symmetry U(1) Y , the total Lagrangian L =…”

“…Apart from the theoretical interest in providing a self-consistent solution to the problem mentioned above, Higgs scalar-pseudoscalar transitions may directly be probed at present and planned high-energy machines [4,5]. In the SM, HZ mixing is expected to occur at the three-loop level [5], as shown in Fig.…”

“…Our presentation is organized in such a way that the formalism may easily be extended to Higgs production at other colliders. For instance, our formalism can be applied to γγ colliders [25,32], which are analogous to gg collisions at the LHC, to µ + µ − colliders [26], which have formal similarities with bb collisions at the LHC, and to W W -fusion and Higgsstrahlung processes at e + e − linear colliders [33].…”
