CP-odd tadpole renormalization of Higgs scalar-pseudoscalar mixing

Abstract: We consider an Abelian model with a CP-conserving Higgs potential spanned by two complex Higgs fields. The CP invariance of the Higgs potential is then broken explicitly beyond the Born approximation by introducing soft-CP-violating Yukawa interactions. Based on the non-renormalization theorem, we derive the consistency conditions under which a CPodd counterterm exists and, at the same time, renders the one-loop-induced mixing of a CP-even Higgs boson with a CP-odd Higgs scalar ultra-violet finite. The novel C… Show more

“…These are also studied in [758], and a more recent summary is given in [759]. The phases of the soft supersymmetry-breaking parameters can significantly affect the physics of the Higgs sector [760,761,55,762,763,764,765,766,767,768]. At tree level it has long been understood that all the quantities that affect the Higgs physics can be chosen to be real.…”

“…At tree level it has long been understood that all the quantities that affect the Higgs physics can be chosen to be real. The phase effects enter at one loop order, because the stop loops are a large contribution [55,760,761]. The stop loops involve phases because the 2 × 2 stop mass matrix is given by…”

“…A measurement of the CP phases in the sfermion/χ ± ,χ 0 sector will also complement CP studies of the Higgs sector [54], since in the MSSM Higgs-sector CP violation is generated through quantum corrections [13][14][15][16]. Last but not least we emphazise that, since the effects can be large, the possibility of CP violation should be taken into account in precision SUSY parameter analyses, especially in a general analysis project as envisaged in [55].…”

“…Furthermore, if the sfermions of the first two generations are sufficiently heavy, above the 1 TeV range, the EDM constraints on the phase of the higgsino mass parameter µ = |µ|e iφµ , in general constrained to φ µ < ∼ 10 −2 , get weaker; the sfermions of the third generation can still be light. Non-vanishing phases of µ and/or the trilinear scalar couplings A t,b can induce explicit CP violation in the Higgs sector via loop corrections [13][14][15][16]. Though these phases generate EDMs independently of the first two generations of sfermions, the EDMs are suppressed by the mass scale of the two heavy Higgses [17,18].…”

“…As is known to all, the magnetic dipole moments(MDMs) [11,12] and electric dipole moments (EDMs) [13] of fermions open a wide window to find new physics beyond the SM.…”
