COVID-19 Vaccination Limits Systemic Danger Signals in SARS-CoV-2 Infected Patients

Abstract: Vaccination with an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine determines not only a consistent reduction in the risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection but also contributes to disease attenuation in infected people. Of note, hyperinflammation and damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) have been clearly associated with severe illness and poor prognosis in COVID-19 patients. In this report, we revealed a significant reduction in the levels of IL-1ß and DAMPs molecules, as S100A8 and High Mobility Group Protein B1 (HMGB1), in vaccinated … Show more

“…This is due to the highly-demanding nature of vaccine approval that necessitates long years of experimentation and costly clinical trials. 14 Recently, the redirection into the exploitation of immunoinformatics as a preceding step of vaccine contriving and testing is a priority as it facilitates the design planning and reduce enormous time and, at the same time, economizes some developmental stages of vaccine manufacturing. 15 COVID-19 vaccines have been proven to be highly effective in preventing COVID-19 infection and reducing the severity of illness, hospitalization, and death.…”

“…To date, no active licensed vaccine against SARS‐CoV‐2 is available despite the accelerating race between biotech industries and medical institutions. “…Vaccination against COVID-19 appears to be an essential approach to control the pandemic, leading not only to a consistent reduction in the risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection, but also preventing severe clinical manifestations in infected people [ 1 ]. Although robust data obtained from the general population have confirmed the safety of diversified SARS-CoV-2 vaccines [ 2 , 3 , 4 ], unexpected medical events in temporal association with vaccination occur continuously.…”
