Coupling Coordination Degree of Government Support, Financial Support and Innovation and its Impact on Economic Development

Abstract: This paper reveals the coupling mechanism of government support, financial support, and innovation. Using panel data from 28 provinces in China from 2007 to 2016 as a research sample, the coupling coordination degree model is used to measure the coupling coordination degree of government support, financial support, and innovation, and the empirical analysis of its relationship with economic development is conducted through projection pursuit model, static panel data model and dynamic panel data model. “…These developments are dependent on an efficient government debt financing mechanism, and a robust financial support system is key to strengthening the effectiveness of government services (Soogwan and Byungkyu 2014 ). The source of the financial resources of local governments and the financial security of their strategic tasks is the better local economic base (Liu et al 2020 ). Therefore, green governance and economic development show a relationship of economic growth-fiscal expansion-enhanced green governance practices-economic growth, characterized as a virtuous system of interdependence and mutual circulation.…”

“…At present, the research fields using coupling coordination degree model in China mainly focus on provinces [44,45], regions [46,47], and industries [11,40,48], such as urbanization and logistics industry [27,29,43,45], urban and rural economic development and ecological environment [47,49], economic growth and environmental pollution [50,51], pharmaceutical manufacturing industry and regional economy [20,44,47,52], the innovation drive with high quality and economic development [53,54], the sustainable development of regional economy [55,56], science and technology innovation [57,58], integrated transportation and logistics industry and financial industry [29,35], rural revitalization and new type of urbanization [43,45,59], the logistics industry and the new urbanization [45,60], and so on. In addition to this method often used to study coupling coordination degree of two systems, there are also some studies of three systems, such as the coordinated development of economy, society, environment [27,61] and tourism, urbanization, urban ecological environment [53,62], etc.…”

“…This result is similar to previous studies on the relationship between the economy and the ecological environment. On a long timescale, the coupling degree and coupling coordination of the economy and the ecological environment will gradually increase over time, but there may be a decrease in the later period [20].…”

“…The analysis of inter-system coupling can be used in urban green sustainable development [16,17], carbon emissions [18,19], regional economic development [20], land and sea systems [21], disaster analysis [22], water environment [12], "Belt and Road" [2,9] and other areas. However, most of these studies only focused on a region or a city, and did not involve surrounding cities, and lacked a holistic analysis.…”
