“…In addition, the air in hospitals and laboratories should be constantly filtered and disinfected. Thanks to the simplicity of manufacturing nanofiber mats from various antibacterial biopolymers or the use particles, such as ZnO or silver nanoparticles, can be produced [ 111 , 112 ]. Numerous bacteria, viruses and microorganisms can grow well on moist and warm environment and the air filters are susceptible to microbial colonization [ 113 ].…”

“…The electrochemical cell was consisted of three electrodes. A mild steel was used as a working electrode with a diameter of 1 cm, length of 3 cm, and an exposed surface area of 0.785 cm 2 and prepared with a similar procedure mentioned in our previous work [34]. The reference electrode was from Ag/AgCl (3 M NaCl), while the auxiliary electrode was from a platinum wire.…”

“…Because of the improved corrosion resistance ability of the surface layer and the adsorption of inhibitor molecules on the surface, the positive change in OCP effectively states the passive status of the underlying metal. The positive shifting of OCP values is attributable to the inhibitor molecules' active function in protecting mild steel surfaces against aggressive ions such as hydrogen and chloride [34,43,44].…”

“…It has been demonstrated that the electrospun fibers doped with ZnO NPs have produced an important reduction of the corrosion current of the aluminum substrate in two orders of magnitude, showing also an important enhancement against pitting corrosion resistance. Other representative works by using PCL-ZnO NPs deposited onto magnesium [68] or a combination of metallic oxides (PCL/ZnO-NiO-CuO) deposited onto mild steel [87] have also been implemented, and in both cases also endow an increase in the corrosion resistance. Our experimental results also corroborate that the electrospun samples containing ZnO NPs showed better corrosion properties because the resultant corrosion rate (mm/year) is decreased in one order of magnitude in comparison with the free ZnO NPs electrospun fibers, indicating a better corrosion protection efficiency, as can be appreciated in Table 5.…”
