“…This increase is not significant and agrees with findings from two recent studies that reported that the mean age of Iraqi breast cancer patients was 52.0 and 49.4 years. 7,19 Other studies on women in countries such as Lebanon, Turkey, Bahrain, and Jordan within the middle eastern region have reported comparable findings. 2123 The disease was unilateral in the majority of cases with a comparable distribution between the left (33.25%) and right (31.96%) breasts.…”

“…Histopathologically, a large proportion of the breast cancer patients had ductal disease (82.90%), similar to the study by Karim et al which observed that as much as 83.17% of the study population had ductal cancers, followed by 5.94% tubular, 6.93% lobular, and other types. 19 There is scarcity of data on the pathological profile of breast cancer patients in Iraq which makes it difficult to compare this study’s findings. However, with the relatively better prognosis of patients with ductal disease, especially when it is still at the ductal carcinoma in-situ stage, there may be a good chance for survival of the majority of breast cancer patients in the country.…”
