Correlation of Static and Dynamic Balance With Knee Proprioception in Normals

Abstract: Background: Human balance depends on coordinated integration of sensory input from somatosensory, vestibular and visual systems. Proprioception includes 3 components: sense of position, sense of movement and sense of force. Most of the injuries have the potential to decrease proprioception and subsequently balance. It is important to understand the relation between proprioception and balance in young adults. Thus this study aimed at co-relating static and dynamic balance with knee proprioception in Normals.Pur… Show more

“…R. Bhaktiari stated that co-ordination of various sensory inputs such as the visual, somatosensory and vestibular system helps to maintain balance. Each of these systems play a significant role as it relays the information about body position and motion to the CNS, and thus it maintains balance control [3,4]. An ecological approach, used by Stoffregen and Riccio, described the use of sensory systems for balance control.…”

[1][2][3] Propriyoseptif duyu, eklem ve eklem çevresi yapılarda bulunan mekanoreseptörler aracılığıyla santral sinir sistemine iletilir. 3 Nöroduyusal yapılardan zengin olan diz ekleminde osteoartrit oluşması hâlinde mekanoreseptör harabiyetine bağlı propriyoseptif duyunun, dolayısıyla nöromotor kontrolün bozulduğu, buna bağlı dengenin olumsuz yönde etkilendiği önceki araştırmalarda gösterilmiştir.…”
