HIIT training (high intensity interval training) is one of the most effective means of improving both cardio-respiratory and metabolic functions as well as physical performance of athletes. It includes a series of intensive physical exercises (e.g. running until reaching 90% of the maximum possible pulse), with intermittent rest periods. Active intervals can range between 45 and 240 seconds and alternate with easy exercise periods or even rest periods. This type of training is based on a different principle than regular exercises, where the effort is constantly dosed with an average intensity over a longer period of time. Initially, these exercised were used for practicing performance athletics, but they were also adopted by the fitness world for their efficacy in burning fat, which has been demonstrated in multiple studies. It has been observed that the attainment of the maximum cardiovascular performance and peripheral adaptation by athletes is determined by reaching 90% of the maximum aerobic capacity [VO2max]. Thus, new trends in sports medicine structure specific training protocols that allow 90% of VO2 max to be maintained for long periods of time. Moreover, there is evidence that HIIT influences cardiovascular response, anaerobic glycogenesis, blood glucose levels, neuromuscular yield, and musculoskeletal tension, parameters that can be improved not only in athletes but also in individuals with metabolic syndrome. The HIIT recommendation is made after considering a number of factors such as the intensity and duration of the exercise as well as the recovery period, the exercise mode, and the number of repetitions and series.

The birth, growth, development, reproduction and senescence under physiological conditions can be achieved without diminishing the role of other important aspects that influence them, only with the support of an optimal diet that is a fundamental requirement nowadays, considering that the health and the nutritional status are in a permanent interdependence. The effects of inadequate nutrition reflect on the expression of genes, influencing the development of certain diseases in childhood and adulthood. Knowing the phases of the gestation period in which the need of certain nutrients is increased, and their absence has the most serious impact on fetal growth and development, allows for the adoption in due time of concrete preventive rules. Disorders associated with lipid malabsorption, such as celiac disease, Crohn�s disease, pancreatic insufficiency, cystic fibrosis and cholestatic disease, are associated with low serum levels of 5-hydroxyvitamin D. Vitamin D deficiency in the newborn can express as deficient skeletal homeostasis, congenital rickets and fractures in the early days of life. A low level of vitamin D during pregnancy seems to increase the risk of preeclampsia, intrauterine growth restriction and gestational diabetes, and in the longer term it seems to affect the bone, immune system and general status. The prevalence of hypovitaminosis D is increasing globally, and the effects on pregnancy and neonatal outcome of the vitamin D deficiency and supplementation are a topical issue, which is currently under investigation.

Implications génétiques et associations entre le vitiligo et les maladies associées au vitiligo Le vitiligo est une maladie chronique, asymptomatique, qui affecte le patient du point de vue esthétique. Elle se caractérise par l'apparition de zones dépigmentées sur la peau ou les muqueuses. Selon la morphologie des lésions, le vitiligo peut être classé en : segmentaire, non segmenté ou mixte. Le vitiligo est associé à une gamme de troubles auto-immuns, le plus souvent de maladies thyroïdiennes auto-immunes, d'alopécie en aires, de naevi halo, de psoriasis, de diabète, etc. L'étiologie est encore trop peu élucidée, la théorie auto-immune liée à des mutations génétiques spécifiques étant la plus étudiée.
