Coronary endothelial dysfunction in patients with early coronary artery disease is associated with the increase in intravascular lipid core plaque†

Abstract: Patients with early coronary artery disease and endothelial dysfunction had a higher lipid content in the vascular wall than patients with normal endothelial function. The result of the present study supports the hypothesis that endothelial dysfunction is associated with pathogenesis of early atherosclerosis.

“…In our earlier studies, we found that the protein-enriched fraction and the low molecular weight peptide extract of M. domestica maggot could inhibit atherosclerotic lesions (Chu et al, 2011(Chu et al, , 2013. Endothelial dysfunction is regarded as an important factor in the pathogenesis of vascular disease (Choi et al, 2013), and M' and M'-related inflammatory response are associated with endothelial dysfunction (Javeshghani et al, 2013;Rammos et al, 2013). In our previous studies, we found that early-activated THP-1 M' increased the proliferation and migration of ECV304 cells and their secretion of VEGF (Chu et al, 2013).…”

“…As noted above, the reduced potency due to endothelial damage of the peripheral artery or the coronary artery was implicated to cause the high sensitivity of RR to VAP 13 14 . There are various papers on such disease conditions caused by dysfunction of the myocardial microcirculation, including Syndrome X 15 , arteriosclerosis 16 , diabetic hypertension 17 , and hyperthyroidism 18 . In this study the rate of occurrence between the history of heart failure and the manifestation of RR was significantly correlated.…”

“…In particular, a high thrombus burden, as well as the presence of a lipid rich plaque and plaque erosion are associated with the occurrence of distal embolization. 16 Finally, another component of CMVO is represented by the individual susceptibility to microvascular dysfunction, maybe related to the function, as well as to the structure and the density of the microcirculation. 17 Genetic factors, like 1976T.C polymorphism of the adenosine 2A receptors gene, may modulate adenosine-induced vasodilation.…”
