Copper Zinc Sulfur Compound Solar Cells Fabricated by Spray Pyrolysis Deposition for Solar Cells

Abstract: Cu-Zn-S (CZS) films were deposited by the spray pyrolysis method. As-deposited CZS film showed a low crystallinity. The resistivity of CZS film with  Cu Cu Zn  ratio of 50% is around Glass FTO TiO In S CZS carbon . The best cell was observed at the CZS films with   Cu Cu Zn  ratio of 50%; these cells depicted a conversion efficiency of 1.7%.

“…The estimated bandgap (Eg) values are consistent with those of CuS and ZnS, where each of them has been known as a direct bandgap semiconductor with compositional modulation ability. These observations are in good agreement with the works of Sreejith et al [18] and Noriyuki et al [19] for copper zinc sulphide thin films. They attributed the increased bandgap to the direct effects of enlarged grain sizes as well as a reduction in structural defect within the films.…”

“…The PV characteristics were confirmed as having a cell structure of <glass/FTO/TiO 2 /In 2 S 3 /CZS/carbon>. The best cell was observed in the CZS films with a Cu/(Cu + Zn) ratio of 50%; these cells depicted a conversion efficiency of 1.7% …”

“…This critical point can be overcome under out-of-equilibrium conditions of synthesis. As well as we know, few studies report the attempt of synthesizing CuZnS 2 , (Cu, Zn)S or Cu 2 Zn 2 S 3 [7][8][9][10][11][12]. Uhuegbu et al synthesized Cu-Zn-S compounds through a one-pot synthesis with metal chlorides and thiourea in solution, assisted by opportune complexing agents [7].…”

“…Uhuegbu et al synthesized Cu-Zn-S compounds through a one-pot synthesis with metal chlorides and thiourea in solution, assisted by opportune complexing agents [7]. Conversely, Aduloju et al doped ZnS from a contact solution of Cu 2+ , the resulting products being homogenized by a mild temperature treatment (300 • C) Kitagawa et al claimed to have successfully deposited thin films of Cu 2 Zn 2 S 3 by spray pyrolysis [10]. Bagdare et al claimed to have obtained a nanocrystalline thin films of Cu x Zn 1-x S by means of chemical bath deposition [11].…”
