Copeptin and Arginine Vasopressin Concentrations in Critically Ill Patients

Abstract: Plasma concentrations of copeptin and AVP in healthy volunteers and critically ill patients correlate significantly with each other. The ratio of copeptin/AVP plasma concentrations is increased in patients with sepsis and SIRS, suggesting that copeptin may overestimate AVP plasma concentrations in these patients.

“…Similarly, the current authors evaluated the same biomarkers as in CAP, which were all higher in nonsurvivors compared with survivors and had a similar accuracy for the prediction of death to the APACHE II score [107,108,115,[124][125][126].…”

“…The study group consisted mostly of men, similarly to studies by other authors, while registries indicate an increasing incidence and prevalence of HF in women [27]. In the study by Maedy et al [28], measurements of HF biomarkers at 3 months after hospital discharge had an additional prognostic value . In our study, last measurement of the study parameters were performed at discharge.…”
