Cooler for obtaining crystals

Abstract: A design for an air cooler ('air saw') with a series of movable teeth ('modular crystallization comb') installed in a laboratory chamber furnace is presented. The setup allows easy regulation of a series of different temperature gradients, shapes of crystallization fronts and rates, in crucible columns, with the purpose of obtaining crystals. This method can also be applied in crucible or tube furnaces.

A model of an air cooler ('crystallization shelf') installed in a laboratory furnace, which allows regulation and simultaneous crystallization of several substances at different temperature gradients, shapes of crystallization fronts and rate intervals, with the purpose of obtaining crystals, is presented. In a paper by Cabric & Pavlovic (2005), a model of an air cooler in a laboratory furnace for regulating the crystallization fronts and rates in several crucibles is described. In the present paper, we show the development and improvement of the interior of the modeled cooler, which regulates different paths and rates of air flow better, with the purpose of simultaneous regulation of different crystallization fronts and rates in a series of crucibles and Tamman test tubes (Fig.
