Conventional Vs Digital Impressions: Acceptability, Treatment Comfort and Stress Among Young Orthodontic Patients

Abstract: Objective:The objective of the present study was to compare patients’ acceptability, comfort and stress with conventional and digital impressions.Materials and Methods:Thirty young orthodontic patients (15 males and 15 females) who had no previous experience of impressions were enrolled in this study. Conventional impressions for orthodontic study models of the dental arches were taken using an alginate impression material (Hydrogum®, Zhermack Spa, Badia Polesine, Rovigo, Italy). “…In addition, it can be difficult for the clinician, especially in the case of technically complex impressions (for example the fabrication of a long-span implant-supported reconstruction) [12,14]. The optical impression with Intraoral Scanners (IOS) solves all these problems: it is well-tolerated by the patient, since it does not require the use of conventional materials, and is technically easier for the clinician [16,17,18,19,20,21,22].…”
