Controlling Diameter, Length and Characterization of ZnO Nanorods by Simple Hydrothermal Method for Solar Cells

Abstract: Zinc oxide (ZnO) nanorods have been synthesized by solution processing hydrothermal method in low temperature using the spin coating technique. Zinc acetate dehydrate, Zinc nitrate hexahydrate and hexamethylenetetramine were used as a starting material. The ZnO seed layer was first deposited by spin coated of ethanol zinc acetate dehydrate solution on a glass substrate. ZnO nanorods were grown on the ZnO seed layer from zinc nitrate hexahydrate and hexamethylenetetramine solution, and their diameters, lengths … Show more

“…The dependence of the D value on the type of substrate can be attributed to both lattice and thermal mismatching between this substrate and ZnO nanorods. The amount of defect in crystal is represented the dislocation density (δ) is obtained by equation (6) [18]: (6) Where D is the crystallite size. In equation 6, the dislocation of density depended inversely square on the crystallite size.…”

“…As in other ZnO nanostructures' synthesis [19][20][21][22][23][24], ZnO tetrapods can be obtained via different methods [25][26][27], such as atmosphere controlled oxidation, thermal evaporation, catalytic oxidation, microwave radiation, and microemulsion. All these methods can be divided into two primary categories: the first starts from a solid phase and then proceeds through a solid-vapour transport-condensation process, while the second is a liquid reaction process.…”
