Controlled synthesis and photostability of blue emitting Cs3Bi2Br9 perovskite nanocrystals by employing weak polar solvents at room temperature

Abstract: All inorganic Cs3Bi2Br9 perovskite NCs were synthesized at room temperature, demonstrating blue dual-emission peaks and high photoluminescence quantum yield.

“…Various lead-free perovskite NCs using tin, 27,28 bismuth, [29][30][31][32] and antimony, 33,34 have been investigated. Among them, Bibased perovskite NCs exhibit the potential for stability and environment-friendliness.…”

“…Moreover, the toxicity of lead (Pb) element in the lead perovskite NCs is the bottleneck for the commercial application of perovskite NCs (Chang et al, 2018). Recently, the work of lead-free perovskite NCs, including tin-based (Jellicoe et al, 2016;Wang et al, 2016;Zhang et al, 2016;Wang et al, 2017;Liang et al, 2020) and bismuthbased (Leng et al, 2016(Leng et al, , 2018Yang et al, 2017;Bekenstein et al, 2018;Zhou et al, 2018;Gao et al, 2019) perovskite NCs, has been targeted. Replacing lead with divalent non-toxic metal cations (e.g., tin and bismuth) or heterovalent metal cations (e.g., antimony and silver) has been developed to synthesize leadfree perovskite NCs.…”

“…Notably, Cs 3 Bi 2 Br 9 PNCs were reported to be prepared by a method of weak‐polar solvent at room temperature. [ 89 ] In a typical synthesis, ODE, OA, and OLA were added into a centrifuge tube with vigorously stirring. Then, TBABr‐OA precursor, HBr, and Cs‐Bi‐OA precursor were injected into the tube in sequence.…”
