“…The use of plant species as herbicide indicators is common (Batista et al, 2018). Cucumis sativus (cucumber) is used as a bioindicator plant for atrazine and sulfentrazone residues because it is highly sensitive to these herbicides (Dourado Júnior et al, 2017;Araújo et al, 2019). The higher the concentrations of herbicides in the soil, the lower the count of live plants that explore the soil with their roots and perform photosynthetic processes.…”

“…In recent years, some studies have reported using nanomaterial adsorption, coating, or loading herbicide to achieve the effect of slow-release herbicides to prolong weeding. Natural clays are gaining popularity because of their thermal stability, biocompatibility, availability, environmental friendliness, and low cost. Halloysite nanotubes (HNTs), a natural aluminosilicate mineral, are generated by rolling-up a kaolin sheet. Its size ranges between 15 and 100 nm in the inner diameters and between 0.5 and 2 μm in length, and HNTs have been used as adsorbent materials for the controlled release of active medicines due to their biocompatibility and suitably sized tubular structure. Most studies have used evacuation to remove air and then pack the drug into the nanotubes. Zhong et al loaded commercial herbicide atrazine (AT) into the lumen of HNTs with the amount of 9 wt % and then added the AT-loaded nanotubes (HNTs-AT) into a poly(vinyl alcohol)/starch composite (PVA/ST) with a mass ratio of 80/20 to construct a dual drug-delivery system .…”

“…Pesticides play important roles in the high food productivity and farmers’ income through the control of biological disasters. Herbicides are chemicals applied to eliminate losses of weed interference on crops, leading to substantial agronomic and economic benefits [1,2]. Diquat dibromide (DQ, Figure 1), which belongs to the category of bipyridines, is globally used as a cationic quaternary ammonium herbicide [3].…”
