Controlled drug delivery through a novel PEG hydrogel encapsulated silica aerogel system

Abstract: A novel composite material consisting of a silica aerogel core coated by a poly(ethylene) glycol (PEG) hydrogel was developed. The potential of this novel composite as a drug delivery system was tested with ketoprofen as a model drug due to its solubility in supercritical carbon dioxide. The results indicated that both drug loading capacity and drug release profiles could be tuned by changing hydrophobicity of aerogels, and that drug loading capacity increased with decreased hydrophobicity, while slower releas… Show more

“…The difficulties happen while one or both biomolecule's active site suffers an inactivation, and this is occasionally clear and sensible and in agreement with other reported results [7,[17][18][19]. Our in vitro studies with C595 anti-MUC-1 show it retains its activity after ALGDG2 conjugation.…”

“…Their use as a core in aerogel/hydrogel formulations enables a prolonged drug release and favors an increased interaction between the skin and an external membrane (e.g., PEG hydrogel layer). Such features allow tailoring both the drug release and permeation according to the pathological dosage requirements [219].…”

“…In confirmation, there are some reports on the anticancer activity of unbound C595 which suggests anticancer effects for C595 [21][22][23].…”

“…The outcome of the present work presents the use of antibodies such as poly or monocolonal (polyclonal goat anti-rabbit antibody, anti-EGFR antibody hmab425 or conjugated to PAMAM different generation dendrimer or C595 targeted alpha radiotherapy) as anticancer or immunological biomolecules [23][24][25][26]. As a result of observed confirmations from the present research, Gd 3+ -ALGD-G 2 -C595 nano-probe is a potential dual selective breast molecular imaging and therapeutic agents and seems to be a good functional nano-probe and it should to be further studied by clinical trials.…”
