Contrast lipocryolysis

Abstract: Alternative crystal structures are possible for all lipids and each different crystal structure is called a polymorphic form. Inter-conversion between polymorphisms would imply the possibility of leaning crystal formation toward the most effective polymorphism for adipocyte destruction. Food industry has been tempering lipids for decades. Tempering technology applied to lipocryolysis gave birth to “contrast lipocryolysis”, which involves pre- and post-lipocryolysis fat layer heating as part of a specific tempe… Show more

“…A subsequent study [12] applied several temperature patterns (heating and cooling) in isolated rat adipocytes and observed an increase in the crystallization process when using contrast temperatures: heating-cooling-heating. Both processes, cooling and contrast temperatures, showed high potential to induce the cellular death of adipocytes through lipid crystallization [11, 33]. This research contributed to the development of the Lipocryo® technology (Clinipro, S.L.…”

“…One fact is clear: cold-induced lipid crystallization (crystal-structure formation) of the adipocytes occurs at temperatures around 8°C to 10°C, and it is a condition dependent on time and temperature; this seems to be the key to the results [1113, 33, 35].…”

“…e combination of pre-and postheating with cryolipolysis has already proven its effectiveness when compared with conventional lipolysis. Indeed, Pinto et al showed in their study a 42.45% improvement in fat reduction by using contrast lipolysis [8,10]. is phenomenon Dermatology Research and Practice 3 has also been observed by Pinto et al on in vitro adipocytes models.…”
