Continuous amination of aryl/heteroaryl halides using aqueous ammonia in a Teflon AF-2400 tube-in-tube micro-flow reactor

Abstract: Aqueous ammonia was applied as the ammonia source in the continuous amination of aromatic and heteroaromatic halides assisted by a Teflon AF-2400 tube-in-tube reactor to generate densely substituted aryl/heteroaryl amines in high yields.

“…A second work that made use of the highly controlled stoichiometry of hazardous gases in tube‐in‐tube reactions was performed by Wu, Zhang, and co‐workers [78] . They demonstrated the use of aqueous ammonia for the continuous amination of aryl and heteroaryl halides from the hypothesis that NH 3 can diffuse through the AF‐2400 tubing at elevated temperatures from readily available and safe aqueous ammonia (Scheme 9A).…”

“…Zhang, Wu and co-workers recently reportedt he use of at ube-in-tube reactor for the generationo f anhydrous NH 3 from an aqueous stream of NH 3 (25 %). [37] The inner tube containeda queous NH 3 , whereas the outer tube was the locationo ft he organic reaction. Karl-Fischer titration analysisd etermined that the permeation by water was negligible when operating the tube-in-tube system at temperatures below 50 8Ca nd shorter residence times.H owever,i ts hould be noted that at highero perating temperatures the permeation of water was observed.…”
