The article considers the general and special – «planning and volume-spatial integrity», principles of the complex process of restoration-reconstructive transformations (RRT) of the historical centers, formulated by the author. A definition is given and four interconnected system levels of RRT are identified: urban planning, volumetric, functional, and socio-economic. To address the issues of restoration-reconstructive transformations, general and special principles are proposed. General are as relevant for all PPT system levels. Special are additionally revealing a certain level and complementing the general ones. The latter's included the following principles: «cumulative development»; «contextual addition»; «attractive spatial disclosure»; «multi-comfort». At the urban planning system level, it is recommended to solve the issues of increasing the value and quality of the planning and volume-spatial structure of the historical center based on the principle of their «integrity». This is the maintenance of the historical center in a state in which all its elements have such characteristics (form - place - content - meaning) and connections that make it possible to ensure its harmonious existence and development. The principle contributes to the prevention, reduction, and elimination of destruction. It can be used when carrying out restoration-reconstructive transformations in areas of the historical center of different value and destruction using, respectively, preserving, restoring, renewing, and transforming methods. It is complementary to the formulated general principle of RRT – «cumulative development». Nine selected techniques that reveal the principle of «planning and volume-spatial integrity» are analyzed, and recommendations for their implementation are given. Places of their approbation are showing.
