“…The same exact pattern followed the AC in Figure 4B although with less variation in pH and PO 4 3- -P concentrations over time due to the absence of M2. These results are comparable to those from Beltran et al ( Beltrán-Rocha et al, 2021 ) who observed a non-biological P salt precipitation along with a pH increase in microalgal-bacterial consortia ( Prazeres et al, 2021 ).…”

“…The same exact pattern followed the AC in Figure 4B although with less variation in pH and PO 4 3--P concentrations over time due to the absence of M2. These results are comparable to those from Beltran et al (Beltrán-Rocha et al, 2021) who observed a non-biological P salt precipitation along with a pH increase in microalgal-bacterial consortia (Prazeres et al, 2021). PO 4 3--P is not a normalized parameter in the national legislation, so the values were compared to Switzerland's legal framework "Federal Water Protection Law (WPL)" which specifies the limit of PO 4 3--P in wastewater discharges at the level not exceeding 0.8 mg L −1 (Preisner et al, 2020).…”

“…Among the different processes described in the literature for AIWW treatment, immediate onestep lime precipitation (IOSLP) is presented as a simple and economic process that can be used to obtain, in a fast and efficient way, a clarified and disinfected effluent, rich in nutrients and with very low content in heavy metals, apparently capable of being reutilized for agricultural purposes [6]. Furthermore, IOSLP has been proven to be effectively reduce phenolic content when dealing with AIWWs with high phenolic content, such as OMW [7]. According to these authors, this process, consisting of adding lime to the wastewater, also contributes to the reduction in greenhouse gases through posterior spontaneous carbonation reactions with atmospheric CO 2 .…”

“…Phenolic compounds have several biological properties and are used in many industrial elds because of their antioxidant activity including the pharmaceutical, food, and cosmetic industries (Gueboudji et al 2021a, Soberón et al 2019). Some factors would in uence the phenolic compound's composition of OMW such as the olive varieties, climatic conditions, olive oil extraction process and ripening degree of the fruit (Prazeres et al 2021).…”
