CONTAMINATION OF Cd AND Pb ON MILKFISH Chanos chanos CULTURED IN SERIBU ISLANDS, JAKARTA

Abstract: Seribu Islands located in the north of Jakarta Bay; it is potentially polluted by heavy metal such as Cd and Pb. The aims of this study is to prove contamination presumption, by analyzing and determine correlation Cd and Pb concentration in the sediment RNO (1981), EPA (1999) and IACD/CEDA (1997). Gills, viscera Keywords: contamination, Cd, farming, milkfish, Pb, Seribu Islands ABSTRAKKepulauan Seribu berada satu hamparan dengan Teluk Jakarta yang tercemar logam berat, sehingga berpotensi untuk tercemar lo… Show more

“…Generally, the body of biota can eliminate heavy metals through the process of excretion, but its ability is limited. Thus, if heavy metal accumulation continues to occur, the concentration of heavy metals in the organism's body will be higher than the level of heavy metals in the environment (Riani et al, 2017). The maximum consumption limit value is a reference to avoid the adverse effects of heavy metals entering the body (Prastyo et al, 2017).…”

“…Waste containing heavy metals without prior treatment can have a negative impact on aquatic ecosystems [7]. Heavy metals will contaminate sea water and surrounding waters so it will accumulate in the bodies of aquatic living things [8]. Beside from the waters where they live, heavy metal contamination in fish can be influenced by various things such as the age of the fish, fat content in the tissue, and how to eat [9].…”
