Construction of exfoliated g-C3N4 nanosheets–BiOCl hybrids with enhanced photocatalytic performance

Abstract: Exfoliated g-C 3 N 4 nanosheets (CNs) were composited with bismuth oxychloride (BiOCl) to fabricate a series of hybrids via a facile chemical deposition-precipitation method in this investigation. The as-synthesized BiOCl-CNs hybrids were then fully characterized by a collection of analytical techniques. It was obviously observed that CNs were in intimate contact with hierarchical BiOCl flowerlike units to form heterojunction structures, which facilitates transfer and efficient separation of photoinduced elect… Show more

“…The blue shift of characteristic adsorption peak of RhB during photocatalysis is observed in Fig. S5 and is attributed to the deethylation phenomenon [46]. The experimental data were subsequently fitted by a pseudo-first-order model to study reaction kinetics of the RhB degradation and the corresponding apparent reaction constants (k) were listed in Table 1.…”

“…To fully understand the photocatalytic process and further propose a reasonable mechanism, hydroxyl radicals and holes trapping experiments were conducted to realize roles of both oxidative species through addition of a desired amount of IPA [46,47] and EDTA-2Na [38,39,46], respectively. From Fig.…”

“…By means of FTIR spectroscopy, they recorded the sharpest absorption bands of pure BiOCl at 529, 524, 535 and 523 cm´1, respectively, and a weak peak at approximately 1650 cm´1 (Table 8). Chang et al (2014) and Xie et al (2014) [71,72] reported a broad, weak absorption at 3450 cm´1 (Table 8). Ye et al (2012) [69] and Bai et al (2014) [70] published IR spectrums up to 2000 cm´1 and documented a minor peak at 1395 cm´1 (Table 8).…”
