Construction of Au@Metal-organic framework for sensitive determination of creatinine in urine

Abstract: Creatinine level in urine is an important biomarker for renal function diseases, such as renal failure, glomerulonephritis, and chronic nephritis. The Au@MIL-101(Fe) was prepared by in situ growth of Au nanoparticles in MIL-101(Fe) as a selective SERS substrate. The Au@MIL-101(Fe) offers the great local surface plasmon resonance (SPR) effect due to gold nanoparticles aggregation inside metal-organic frameworks. The framework structure could enrich trace target samples and drag them into SPR hot spots. The opti… Show more

“…Thereby, Jiang et al fabricated Au@MIL-101(Fe) as a SERS substrate using the solution impregnation method to monitor creatinine precisely. 139 The SERS substrate was constructed by mixing pre-synthesized MIL-101(Fe) with chloroauric acid to form ultra-small nanoparticles on the surface. The framework structure could drag creatinine into the neighborhood of Au by the strong electrostatic interaction.…”

“…In another study, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are used as LSPR sensors, with AuNPs serving as the metal clusters and joints and MIL-101(Fe) serving as the organic linkers [ 89 ]. Coordination bonds and molecular interaction between metal joints and organic linker struts form the interconnected network.…”

“…MOFs have high catalytic activity, large surface area, anda variety of bonding interactions with analytes, making them an attractive candidate for sensing applications. Jiang et al fabricated Au@MIL-101(Fe)-based SERS sensors with the in-situ growth of AuNPs in MIL-101(Fe) [ 89 ]. The device is extremely sensitive to low creatinine concentrations in urine, with a LOD of 1 × 10 −4 mM and a detection range of 10 −3 —10 −1 mM.…”
