Constituents of Yuzu (Citrus junos) Oil

Abstract: Eight monoterpenic hydrocarbons, 15 sesquiterpenic hydrocarbons, 6 aliphatic aldehydes, aromatic aldehyde, 3 terpenic aldehydes, 1 terpenic ketone, 1 aliphatic ketone, 1 phenol, 1 phenol ether, 8 terpenic esters, 3 aliphatic alcohols, 9 monoterpenic alcohols, 9 sesquiterpenic alcohols, 1 aromatic alcohol, 5 fatty acids and 2 coumarin compounds were identified in cold-pressed peel oil of Yuzu (Citrus junos) based on gas chromatography, infrared spectrometry, nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometry and capillary… Show more

“…It is difficult to provide representative percentages of each constituent because of their variations in function of the cultivar, production site, storage condition, etc Moreover, although most of the articles report the percentages of each component, the quantification methods are not always appropriate for Citrus cold‐pressed oils which generally contain non‐volatile molecules such as furocoumarins 40 . Hence, phellopterin 19 and auraptene 20 have been reported in Yuzu cold‐pressed oils 16 . Since these molecules cannot be volatilized in the GC injector, they cannot be detected and therefore quantified in the whole oil 41 .…”
