Constituants alimentaires et motricité digestive

Abstract: Summary. Dietary components and digestive motility. The motor profiles of the small and the large intestine are described in terms of migrating myoelectric patterns in the small bowel and of long to short spike burst ratios in the colon.

“…The shedding of IS intracellularis preceding the development of clinical signs indicates that infection by IS intracellularis precedes PE. It is unlikely that the IS intracellularis organisms detected in the feces were those with which the pigs were inoculated, as the transit time of the pig alimentary tract varies from under 24 h to 40 h in pigs on a concentrate ration (46,47). Furthermore, pig 11 was necropsied 7 days FIG.…”

“…An other fact which determines the MMC pattern of intestinal motility is the length of the small bowel Fleckenstein et al, 1982], The gastric emptying and the luminal transport in the proximal half of the intestine are quite rapid, but in the distal part of the small bowel, they are extensively slowed down in the rat [Derblom et al, 1966;Nilsson et al, 1973;Purdon et al, 1973;Borella and Lippman, 1980], In consequence, the ileum works as a functional reservoir for unab sorbed solids [Kerlin and Phillips, 1983]. It is already known that the appearance of MMC and the distribution of the 3 phases may be largely modified by luminal factors such as liquid or solid form, osmolarity, volume and pH of the luminal content [Itoh et al, 1980;Ruckebusch et al. 1981].…”

“…In physiological situations, the postprandial period is followed by the return of MMCs. These MMCs present the same characteris tics (total duration of cycles and distribution of phases) as those seen during a prolonged period of fasting [20,30]. After jejunal and ileal resections, the return of MMCs in the ileum after feeding is characterized by shorter MMC cycles compared to control values.…”
