Consolidated and Labile Odor Memory Are Separately Encoded within theDrosophilaBrain

Abstract: Memories are classified as consolidated (stable) or labile according to whether they withstand amnestic treatment, or not. In contrast to the general prevalence of this classification, its neuronal and molecular basis is poorly understood. Here, we focused on consolidated and labile memories induced after a single cycle training in the Drosophila aversive olfactory conditioning paradigm and we used mutants to define the impactofcAMPsignals.AtthebiochemicallevelwereportthatcAMPsignalsmisrelatedineither rutabaga… Show more

“…ASM and ARM rely on different molecular and neuronal mechanisms (Folkers et al, 1993; Tully et al, 1994; Scheunemann et al, 2012). Amnestic cooling abolishes the labile ASM and is, thus, used to separate both components.…”

“…The Gal4 driver SG18.1 activates strong expression in the clusters of olfactory INs, PNs, and a class of EB neurons (Fig. A,B), identified as per Scheunemann et al () and Zhang et al (). Figure B shows PNs which are larger in size and extend axons into AL, EB neurons which are located anterolateral to MB lobes with axonal projection toward EB ring neuropile, INs (Fig.…”
