Considering human resource constraints for real joint production and maintenance schedules

Abstract: This study deals with the problem of scheduling jobs and preventive maintenance (PM) activities in production workshops jointly in order to reduce failure occurrence. PM activities can be planned at fixed periods (time-based PM) or in response to a signal provided from a machine's captor after anomaly detection (condition-based PM). Maintenance activities' planning depends on different constraints like human resources, spare parts availability and past operating duration of the machine. Proposed related works … Show more

“…Human resource constraints [33] could affect the decision on which software development model to choose. For instance, if a particular software requires expertise in particular niche area of computing, but a company lacks personnel in that area, the project manager may be required to make a decision on how best to tackle the challenge.…”

“…Any maintenance planning strategy involves assessing human resources to identify availability and skills, which may be a limitation to planning, either because of scarcity or because of the level of training (Bouzidi-Hassini et al , 2015; Touat et al , 2017). Mather (2005), in his proposal for the maintenance scorecard adoption, argues that human performance can be oriented by the identification of the skills map that will be required to achieve the corporate goals.…”

“…In the maintenance scheduling, the human resource competence had been the subject of the majority of research works done on this subject (Marmier et al (2009), Bennour and Crestani (2007)). To our knowledge, research on the integrated production and maintenance scheduling problems under human resource constraints has been introduced recently (Bouzidi-Hassini et al (2015), Touat et al (2017a), Touat et al (2017b), Touat et al (2018), Touat et al (2019)) and research works on it still very scarce.…”
