Congenital urethral obstruction: Cobb's collar or prolapsed congenital obstructive posterior urethral membrane (COPUM)

Abstract: There are two distinct types of congenital obstruction of the proximal urethra, with the association to the verumontanum being the distinguishing feature.

“…Congenital urethral strictures at the level of the posterior urethra have been classified as posterior urethral valves (three types) in classical Young's classification and COPUM (congenital obstructing posterior urethral membrane) first described by Dewan et al 3 4 The strictures of the bulbar urethra have been underestimated for many years until the first half of the 1990s when Dewan defined and classified these anomalies as congenital.
