Abstract: A Região Metropolitana da Baixada Santista, apesar de ser uma das mais desenvolvidas e urbanizadas do Estado de São Paulo está entre as seis regiões com os mais baixos indicadores de escolaridade e longevidade, possuindo uma significativa desigualdade social expressa na segregação espacial da população empobrecida.
