The research focus was motivated by the emergence of electronic business which increased during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. The research is a literature review and its purpose is to build awareness about the importance of information security and to analyze the correlation between information security and electronic business in an environment where electronic business is emerging and the gap between electronic business and information security is enlarging. The research is a review of peer-reviewed articles retrieved from case studies, empirical research, case analysis, literature reviews, comparative studies, systematic reviews, and conceptual analysis dating from the years of 2018 to 2023. This literature review defines four business intelligence concepts: management information systems, value driven business, electronic business, and information security. This literature review also reveals the effects of all four business intelligence concepts on organizations’ decision-making and financial objectives. Findings of this literature review revealed that electronic businesses need a stronger risk management approach regarding information security. The conclusion shows that the current technological approach and information security tools such as encryption key management, mantraps, and network intrusion detection systems do not ensure trust and/or eliminate digital security risks.

The aim of this study is to identify the issues faced by SMEs all around the world in adopting e-business. This is a work of literature study with the classification based on technological, organizational, and environmental (TOE). The study collects 116 articles from various journal portals. The finding of this study is the factors that concerned the most in adopting e-business among the SMEs which are related to the organization. The organization has a contribution of 50% compared to technology and the environment. Under the organization, human resource is a prominent key to be improved if the SMEs want to adopt e-business well. This situation applies in the continents of Asia America, Europe, Australia, and Oceania. Only African SMEs concern more about management rather than human resources. This study does not consider the interplay between the factors, however, the practical implication of this study is that the finding can be used as input for decision-makers who have an interest in improving the performance of SMEs or raising the level of SMEs in their region, one of which is by increasing the adoption rate of e-business among SMEs. Further, there is an opportunity for future research in investigating the strength of the relationship in each factor to the adoption of e-business, or even in between factors. The contribution of this study is to provide thorough synopsis regarding the factors that need to be considered by the SMEs if they want to adopt e-business.

Enhancing small business development and promoting entrepreneurship would be a good strategy to contribute and promote economic development. From the socio-economic development viewpoint, SMEs provide a variety of benefits. The purpose of this study is to examine the link between economic growth and small and medium enterprise performance and develop a conceptual framework in Oman context.Desk Research technique was conducted for this study. The contribution which small and medium businesses can make to national economy and wealth creation needs to be recognized by the governments from the beginning and be considered as part and parcel of the economic development process. SMEs are the major growing force behind the growing economy of the Sultanate of Oman. Experts and economists are unanimous about the role of small and medium enterprises in the development of Oman’s economy. Small and medium enterprises, now representing the largest category in the economic sector, will complement the activities of large-scale businesses as industrialization gains pace in Oman. There is a need to emphasize the role of SME entrepreneurs in economic development, and to ascertain the role of SMEs in capacity building, employment generation, promoting competitive market, technological development for the economic growth of the Sultanate of Oman.
