World Health Day focuses on demonstrating the importance of food safety along the whole length of the food chain in a globalized world. Food safety is the shared responsibility. It is important to work all along the food production chain from farmers, manufactures to vendors and consumers. Unsafe food creates a vicious cycle of disease and malnutrition, particularly affecting infants, young children, elderly and the sick. Unsafe food is linked to the deaths of an estimated 2 million people annually including many children. There is an urgent need for strengthening the existing food policies to incorporate the importance of food safety, which is ignored most of the times, improving the food governance. This study is based on exploratory research by reviewing available literature on consumer perception and awareness on food safety in developing countries. The food we eat must be nutritious and safe, but we often ignore or overlook the issue of food safety. There is need to Improve the nutrition center in the country, actively spread information and raise consumer awareness about food safety issues. There are other issues related to the costs of implementation of food safety measures and the compliance with the standards which the Government should take care. There is an urgent need for strengthening the existing food policies to incorporate the importance of food safety. The policy makers must include “safe food” as a top priority and integrating “food safety” in the nutrition and food security policies and programs. Good collaboration between governments, producers and consumers helps ensure food safety.
Talent management practices ensure that the right people want to join the company and effectively bring new, talented workers into the company. The purpose of this paper is to contribute to the development of framework for talent management under the current global context. The paper is built on the analysis and synthesis of scientific literature which enables to describe the phenomenon of the talent management. The advancement in the field of talent management, this paper tried to analyze the talent management in global context from four perspectives such as human centric culture, digital skills, employee wellbeing and human resource analytics and develop a framework. Talent management has emerged as the biggest challenge facing organizations. Today, human capital at every level is considered more important than ever to organizations that hope to raise their competitiveness, both globally and locally, as all organizations face a global competition. For countries operating in multinational environments, the framework and measurement approach can be applied to understand unique challenges in the current global scenario that may reflect both the capabilities and behaviors of human capital in those countries. The talent management framework also suggests that future research work will help the global organization to face the challenges in the talent management in the competitive environment.
Entrepreneurship plays an important role in economic prosperity and social stability in many developed countries. Entrepreneurship has been adopted as a strategy to promote economic activities among young people. There is a growing interest in understanding the various challenges of youth entrepreneurship. The main purpose of this study was to assess the challenges in entrepreneurial growth of young entrepreneurs in the Sultanate of Oman. This research was set out to investigate the obstacles that young people encounter when setting up their businesses; the current obstacles that prevent the expansion of their entrepreneurial ventures; as well as the prospects for youth entrepreneurship development in this community. The study employed a descriptive survey research type and used convenience sampling technique to collect data. A standardized questionnaire was used as an instrument to collect data to establish the perceptions of 52 young Omani entrepreneurs. This paper is significant in that it brings insights on challenges for entrepreneurship in Oman. The importance of stimulating the entrepreneurial spirit, values, and attitudes of young people and encouraging innovative business start-ups while fostering a more entrepreneur-friendly culture must be translated into actual and effective policy actions in Oman. We consider that supporting youth entrepreneurship must be an Oman’s priority.
Talent management is of utmost significance in contemporary organizations striving to navigate the challenges of the current environment effectively. This research aims to explore the perspectives of talent management development practices in the Sultanate of Oman and assess the influence of digital skills, human centric culture, employee wellbeing, and HR analytics on shaping talent management in the region. Employing a quantitative approach, the study was conducted across various organizations in the Sultanate. The findings are based on data collected from a sample of 207 respondents comprising human resource managers from diverse sectors in the Sultanate of Oman, obtained through an online questionnaire using nonprobability sampling. The study substantiates that variables such as digital skills, employee wellbeing, human centric culture, and HR analytics exhibit a significant positive association with talent management, thereby bolstering the mechanisms of talent management within companies in the Sultanate of Oman. These results have immediate implications for talent management practices, ensuring efficient discovery, attraction, development, evaluation, and retention of talented personnel within organizations. As a recommendation, this study proposes that all organizations in the Sultanate of Oman devise a comprehensive list of processes and HR activities to address talent management challenges in the post-COVID era, ultimately enhancing work efficiency and adeptly responding to emerging trends.
