Concentrating Solar Power Technologies: A Bibliometric Study of Past, Present and Future Trends in Concentrating Solar Power Research

Abstract: Bibliometric analysis is a key study in order to elucidate the relevance of a research field. This study will point out the main evolution of the research performed in a topic considering the significance of each sub-topic. This study aims to perform a bibliometric analysis in concentrating solar power (CSP) technology. CSP had a first commercial wave between 1984 and 1995. Between 1995 and 2005 there was a period of commercial inactivity. Nevertheless, since 2005 CSP commercial implementation has been acceler… Show more

“…Shen et al ( 2021 ) explored solar rooftop PV research progress via bibliometric analysis based on 595 curated articles from the Web of Science. Their study appeared to contradict with the CSP research landscape (Calderón et al 2021 ) where United States featured as a top country with active research activities related to rooftop PV compared to China (at rank number 3). From research and development (R&D) perspective, weakness in international and joint collaboration was identified to be the main discouragement of global progression and deployment of rooftop PV.…”

“…The research survey was conducted in the Scopus database during the third week of December 2021, looking for articles that were published in journals indexed between 2010 and 2021, in order to gain complete information about the latest scientific research in the area of "low cost PMEH" from abundant energy resources. The primary goal of this study is to portray the latest picture of technological advancement and revolution in PMEH as it relates to power sources that generate power with low cost from abundant energy resources in the recent publications [26]. To choose the highly cited papers, we needed to search various criteria.…”

“…Notable plants, like Cresent Dunes in Nevada and Gemasolar in Seville, have 10 to 15 h of thermal storage. This technology is established globally, with ongoing projects in various countries like China, the UAE, Morocco, South Africa, the US, and Chile, with expectations for more tower CSP plants and diverse solar power projects in the near future [4][5][6][7][8].…”
