The implementation of appropriate methods in English language teaching holds a crucial role in improving students' academic performance. Despite English being a core subject and medium of instruction in Rwanda's educational system, in Technical Secondary Schools from southern province, poor performance in English subject has been observed in national examinations and school-level assessments. The objective of this research was to determine the level of availability of teaching and learning resources for the integration of the Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) and its effect on students’ performance in English subject. Research was carried out in 8 Technical Secondary schools from Nyanza District in southern province. The study utilized a sample of eight Head teachers and employed the descriptive research design with a quantitative method. Data were collected using questionnaires in the form of a likert scale. To analyze the data descriptive and inferential analysis were used. Findings indicated that the existing teaching and learning resources to integrate CALL are insufficient to help students in learning English through CALL, thus performance enhanced. It is shown by the inferential analysis with a P value of 0.64 which is greater than 0.05 of the significant correlation. Therefore it implies the negative correlation. The research recommends that the Ministry of Education should avail sufficient computers and internet connection to Technical Secondary schools to enable the integration of CALL in English teaching therefore performance enhanced.

The rapid development of technology is inseparable from human life, significantly impacting educational systems. Technological advancements, particularly in information technology, indirectly alter conventional teaching strategies. Current educational strategies emphasize student-centered approaches, wherein students play a more active role than teachers, while still recognizing the teacher's role as a source of learning. The implementation of Curriculum 2013 provides a reference in the education sector. Creating an enjoyable learning process involves considering various factors, such as student engagement and the use of effective teaching strategies and methods. This qualitative descriptive research explores the application of the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) design model in the context of interactive PowerPoint media for thematic learning in Grade V at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Bustanul Ulum 02 Tegalwangi Umbulsari Jember. Data collection methods include observation, interviews, and documentation. The analysis involves data reduction techniques. The research findings reveal that a teacher at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah 02 Tegalwangi Umbulsari Jember utilizes interactive PowerPoint media in thematic learning, resulting in improved student understanding. The use of interactive PowerPoint has positively impacted student achievement, as evidenced by increased end-of-year assessment scores. The observation also highlights the significant role of instructional media in the learning process, stimulating student interest and creating a more relaxed and engaging learning atmosphere.

In today’s digital age, computer laboratories’ adoption in academic institutions and the security of equipment are crucial to ensure their effective functioning and prevent equipment loss or damage. These laboratories have valuable equipment, such as laptops, switches, routers, projectors, printers, and scanners, that require proper security measures to prevent losses or damages. Manual methods such as pen and paper, spreadsheets and tracking software have been commonly used in the past for equipment tracking. However, these approaches have certain limitations, such as being time-consuming, having limited storage and retrieval abilities, and not providing real-time updates. To overcome these challenges and enhance the lab equipment tracking system, the objective of the developed system is to identify the necessary requirements for designing, developing and validating an IoT-based computer lab equipment tracking system to manage high-value lab equipment at Université du Lac Tanganyika (ULT) university and prevent the unauthorised removal of equipment from the laboratory. The study employs Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to track and identify automatically tags attached to the equipment. This study used Agile’s Scrum framework as a system development approach, and a qualitative research approach, including interviews, observations, and focus group discussions, was used to collect data for the functional and non functional requirements. An ESP32 microcontroller was used to collect and process data from sensors and send the data to the IoT cloud. An Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) encryption and decryption algorithm using a 128-bit key was implemented to ensure the secure transmission of RFID data. The system also features an automatic lock-unlock mechanism to prevent equipment from moving out of the lab without authorisation. A web application with a simple interface was developed for the equipment management system. Ultimately, the system validation process engaged 51 participants comprising IT managers, lab assistants, lab technicians, and lab users. All participants filled out a system evaluation form which resulted in positive responses. The results of the system validation analysis indicate an average of 87% of performance, availability, accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness. Therefore, ULT University accepted the system due to its effectiveness, security features, and user-friendly interface.
