“…Negative attitudes must therefore affect learning outcomes and reflect poorly upon CBL as a concept rather than the specific content of the package. This confirms the views of Devitt and Palmer (1999) that in implementing CBL as a learning resource, provision must be made for the style of teaching of the course and the style of learning of the students attending that course. The fact that integration into the course curriculum is crucial has also been described by Hughes (2002) and it must be stressed that use of CBL as an 'add on' resource is a de-motivating factor in student learning.…”

“…21 CAL addresses some of the issues associated with limited time, patient availability, and exposure to ophthalmic cases, by enabling increasing amounts of knowledge to be presented in the ophthalmic sciences. Devitt et al 22 have shown that CAL used in ophthalmology can be an effective learning resource in teaching medical students clinical skills competence, 23 as well as problem solving skills, 24 including application to Figure 2 Mean pre-and post-rotation scores for the VOC intervention and control groups. There were statistically significant (Po0.001) within-subject improvements pre-to post rotation for both the control and intervention groups.…”

“…Supporting the theoretical knowledge given in education with the application increases the stability in education [17]. Students must have the choice of how they can learn with an intense education and test opportunity as well as their own learning styles [18].…”
