Computer-aided design and synthesis of CdTe@SiO2core-shell molecularly imprinted polymers as a fluorescent sensor for the selective determination of sulfamethoxazole in milk and lake water

Abstract: In this work, a molecular dynamics simulation method was introduced to compute the preassembled system of molecular imprinted polymers for sulfamethoxazole monomer. The results revealed that the ratio of sulfamethoxazole as template molecule to 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane as functional monomer to tetraethylorthosilicate as cross-linker of 10:10:40 led to the most stable template-functional monomer cluster. Based on the result of computational simulation, CdTe@SiO core-shell imprinted polymers, a cadmium tellu… Show more

“…However, if the ratio of monomer to crosslinker is too high, it will make the extraction of the template difficult due to the excessive rigidity of the MIP. Considering the referred considerations and conclusions from other studies [ 40 , 41 ], the ratio of monomer and crosslinker was selected to be 1:5.…”

“…In the presence of SMZ ( Figure 5B), the intensity of GQDs@SMIP was strongly quenched at pH values between 7 and 9. It is well-established that if the pH is excessively low or high, the imprinted silica shell can hydrolyze and the template cavities can be destroyed [2,36,37]; this affects the stability as well as the ability of the GQDs@SMIP template to recognize the target analyze. Based on these results, we realized that a pH in the range of 7 to 9 is suitable for SMZ detection.…”

“…Sulfamethoxazole (SMZ) is one of the numerous antibiotics belonging to the sulfonamide family. SMZ is used widely as an antibacterial agent in drugs for infectious diseases, animal-derived food, and aquatic environments [1,2]. As SMZ cannot be eliminated effectively through common water or food treatment processes, there is a probability of an excess amount of SMZ entering the human body.…”

“…Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) have been recognized as artificial recognition materials, which possess binding sites complementary in size and shape to the templates for specifically recognizing targeted molecules. So MIPs have been widely applied in the field of sensors , catalysis , separation and purification , and so on. In recent years, magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer (MMIPs) have attracted extensive attention .…”
