Computations of Source for Non-Meshed Coils With A–${V}$ Formulation Using Edge Elements

Abstract: In this paper, different ways to compute electromagnetic source fields for non-meshed coils will be described for magnetic vector potential A and electric scalar potential V formulation (A − V formulation). The originality of this paper is demonstrated by the source computations for A − V formulation with non-meshed coils. Usually, coils for A − V formulation are meshed, and non-meshed coils are studied with reduced magnetic vector potential A r and electric scalar potential V formulation (A r − V formulation)… Show more

“…The current sources in finite element (FE) magnetodynamic problems can generally be considered via Biot-Savart (BS) models, possibly giving the conductors some simplified geometries, with, e.g., filament, circular or rectangular cross sections [1]. In the slots of magnetic core regions, an alternative to the explicit definition of such simplified geometries is to consider the slot-core interfaces as perfect magnetic walls via a zero flux boundary condition (BC).…”

“…CONCLUSION In [3], the discretized source vector potential A j was chosen to compute source for non-meshed coils with the A − V formulation. In this paper, it is described how to reduce the computation of source A j to a part of the domain, in movement or fixed.…”
