Computational Framework for Optimal Carbon Taxes Based on Electric Supply Chain Considering Transmission Constraints and Losses

Abstract: A modeling and computational framework is presented for the determination of optimal carbon taxes that apply to electric power plants in the context of electric power supply chain with consideration of transmission constraints and losses. In order to achieve this goal, a generalized electric power supply chain network equilibrium model is used. Under deregulation, there are several players in electrical market: generation companies, power suppliers, transmission service providers, and consumers. Each player in… Show more

“…Although a reasonable tax rate is required, only a few studies such as Zhou, Hu and Zhou [51], Nagurney, Liu and Woolley [64], Wu, Huang, Hsu, Wang, Lin and Chen [78] treat it as a variable in the models. The most popular approach in the literature is to use sensitivity analysis in evaluating the carbon tax rate in order to promote GSCs.…”
