The Design of Green Supply Chains under Carbon Policies: A Literature Review of Quantitative Models

Abstract: Carbon footprinting of products and services is getting increasing attention due to the growing emphasis on carbon related policies in many countries. As a result, many enterprises are focusing on the design of green supply chains (GSCs) with research on supply chains (SCs) focused not only on cost efficiency, but also on its environmental consequences. The review presented in this paper focuses on the implications of carbon policies on SCs. The concept of content analysis is used to retrieve and analyze the i… Show more

“…According to the European Commission, the oversupply of carbon dioxide emission allowances at the market ranges from 1.5 to 1.7 billion, causing a market imbalance [54,56,57,66]. Reforms launched by the European Union are aimed at achieving the expected reduction of the surplus of carbon allowances available at the market.…”

“…PEC separate represents the lowest primary energy consumption (PEC) from the boiler and power grid burning fuel in the separate system. Furthermore, PEC cchp can be calculated from Equation (23) and PEC separate can be obtained from Equation (24). k f and k e represent the site-to-primary energy conversion factors of fuel and electricity, respectively.…”

“…For example, a carbon trading market for national electricity sectors was established in China in 2017 [21]. The impacts of different carbon regulatory policies have been studied in various optimization problems, such as the biodiesel supply chains manage problem [22], production configuration problem [23], and green supply chain design problem [24].…”

“…Carbon tax regulation is currently the most popular method used in the green logistics network or supply chain planning to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. For a detailed summarization, readers can refer to Xu et al's study [19]. Under carbon tax regulation, logistics activities are charged for each unit of carbon dioxide emission with a carbon tax [33].…”
