Compressive Strength Properties of Bio-Solid Fuel made from Pruned Branch

Abstract: In order to reduce the exhaustion of carbon dioxide, the utilization of unused woody biomass such as forestry biomass and pruned branch has come to attract attention as an alternative fuel of coal. Most of the coal are used at coal-fueled power plants and iron mills. In the present study, bio-solid fuels to alternate coal cokes are investigated. Pruned branches of ume and persimmon which are the typical fruit trees cultivated in Wakayama prefecture are used as biomass resources. To establish a technical basis … Show more

“…The densification technology is involved with heating and pressuring of LC biomass in the manufacturing process. [6][7][8][9][10][11]13 Adjacent LC biomass particles bond via a solid bridge mechanism, which is a result of the softening behavior of its main components which act as natural binders. 13 Moisture content of raw materials and forming temperature affect densified products characteristics, especially mechanical characteristics.…”

“…Since the invention in 2005, the studies involved with bio-coke characteristics has been carried out, centered in the final products physical and mechanical properties. [5][6][7][8][9][10] However, transformations at the molecular scale have never been studied.…”
