Compressive Deformation of Hollow Microsphere Reinforced Metal Matrix Composites

Abstract: The compressive deformation characteristics of hollow alumina microsphere reinforced aluminum matrix composites have been studied through both experiments and finite element analysis of unit cell models. Tests have been performed on composites containing around 50 volume percent of microspheres.
