Compression between microcontinents in the Cathaysian Block during the early Yanshanian: petrogenesis of the Tangquan pluton in Southwest Fujian Province, Southeast China

Abstract: Southeast China is characterized by widespread Mesozoic igneous rocks, which have drawn a great deal of attention in recent decades because of their tectonic significance and related large‐scale mineralization. Among these igneous rocks, The Tangquan pluton in Southwest Fujian Province is the only adakitic pluton that has been discovered within the Cathaysian Block. It is mainly composed of a central unit of granodiorite with peripheral granodioritic porphyries. Two medium‐grained granodiorite samples have zir… Show more

“…These geochemical characteristics match the compositions of adakitic rocks, as originally defined by Defant & Drummond (), although the Yongchun pluton has higher Na 2 O concentrations (2.95–4.03 wt%; average 3.22 wt%) and Na 2 O/K 2 O ratios (average 1.08), similar to the Tangquan pluton (Na 2 O = 2.16–4.32 wt%; average 3.55 wt%) of West Fujian Province (Table ) (G. Wang, Shu, Xu, Tang, & Gaschnig, 2012; W. Xu et al, ; C. Zhang, Ma, & Holtz ; H. Zhang et al, ; X. Zhao et al, , ).…”

“…All of the Yongchun pluton samples exhibit Na 2 O values slightly higher than those of adakitic rocks in other areas (G. Wang et al, , J. Xu et al, ; W. Xu et al, ; Zheng et al, ) and similar to the Tangquan pluton of West Fujian Province (X. Zhao et al, ), indicating they formed through similar processes. In Pb/Ce vs Nb/U and Hf/Zr vs Th/U diagrams (Figure a,b), all of the Yongchun pluton samples appear similar to those of the Lower Yangtze River Belt, Dabie adakitic rocks, and Tangquan pluton of West Fujian Province (S. Liu et al, ; Q. Wang et al, ; X. Zhao et al, ).…”
