Comprehensive tension setting optimisation technique for a cold rolled strip during continuous annealing

Abstract: The previous tension setting for the continuous annealing process (CAP) is not comprehensive; that is, it does not synthetically consider the factors of strip deviation, buckling, flatness and width narrowing. To address this issue, this study integrated the mechanical and technological characteristics of a continuous annealing line to present a comprehensive control index that can characterise the stability of a travelling strip. Meanwhile, strip deviation, buckling, strip shape and width narrowing were regar… Show more

“…He provided a set of comprehensive control models suitable for continuous annealing process and developed a set of online prediction and control technology for cold rolling strip shape. Wang et al (2018aWang et al ( , 2018bWang et al ( , 2018cWang et al ( , 2019 proposed a new set of furnace roller profile curve and established a set of optimisation model suitable for furnace roller. With strip shape as constraint, he established a comprehensive optimisation technique for the tension setting during continuous annealing process (CAP), developed a comprehensive tension setting optimisation software and realised the comprehensive optimisation of tension parameters in each process stage.…”

“…the profile in the transverse direction of the stress in the rolling direction and studied the application of a steady-state elastic-viscoplastic finite element model to the prediction of strip flatness and out of bite buckling during cold rolling of thin strips. Wang et al (2018aWang et al ( , 2018bWang et al ( , 2018c) developed a three-dimensional finite element model for the Universal Crown Control Mill (UCM mill) and strip containing different basic crown patterns, which were applied to two questions, namely, prediction of flatness defect position and analysis of actuator control efficiency. Seo et al (2019) used the finite element method to simulate numerically the effect of work roll configurations on leveling efficiency.…”
