In many organizations, information system and IT infrastructure have been considered as the most strategic capital and valid information is an important factor leads to business success. In this paper we investigate IT effects on project risk management which is vital in any industrial and business activities as a continuous and forecasting process. Risk management involves identifying the potential risks, measuring, monitoring and controlling them in an organization to meet its strategies and objectives and causes to decrease the undesired effects in project life cycles. It also has a main rule in strategic management of the organization by controlling the threads. In this paper we have estimated the effects of IT usage on 50 Iranian oil companies by analyzing the data which have been provided by questionnaires. Three different indices-cost, time, and performance-have been utilized to evaluate information technology impact on risk management. Our results illustrate the positive impact of information technology on risk management especially in optimizing time of process rather than cost and performance.

Consequence assessment is an integral part of the risk assessment process carried out by the industry to minimize impact of assets failure on the environment, human safety, assets integrity and business reputation. A few components of consequences loss occur due to the pipeline failure, such as asset loss, environmental loss, production loss, public loss and Human Health and Safety Loss (HHSL). This study focuses on HHSL by considering the losses in term of monetary value between rural and urban areas due to pipeline failure. Based on the current technical standard practiced in the industry, the calculated consequences are speculated to generate an equal risk value to any area of the pipeline throughout the country, regardless of the areas unique local factors and consequences. Hence, this would lead to the deterioration in the quality of the estimated risk. As for the damaged area, Areal Locations of Hazardous Atmospheres (ALOHA) software was employed in the calculation of risk by considering the pipeline data and the details of selected sites such as atmospheric and demographic condition. The HHSL was calculated using a developed mathematical equation of quantitative risk assessment in terms of the number of fatalities or injuries or both in monetary value. The results of the assessments from rural and urban areas were then compared with one another to identify the occurrence of any significant dissimilarity. The major finding of this research showed that there is a possibility to enhance the decisive value of risk by implementing the proposed approach of HHSL estimation for consequence assessment.

The pipeline infrastructure of Latin America countries, including the Republic of Ecuador, has a signifi cant accident potential. Accidence rate is facilitated by the diversity of natural and climatic conditions in the region, military-political instability in its separate parts, and imperfection of the standards for the production of pipes and equipment.The technical condition of the pipeline systems operated in Latin America for 15-20 years is imperfect. Depreciation or replacement of spent equipment and elements of the pipeline infrastructure is not being carried out at an adequate pace. Ecuador, for example, has a stable dynamics of increasing accidents at pipeline infrastructure facilities. Therefore, an assessment of the risk of the condition of the main pipelines should be carried out. Anthropogenic risk is one of the most important accident factors (50 % of all risk on main oil pipelines in Ecuador). To evaluate it, the methodology of Federal Safety Manual is proposed. The anthropogenic risk is calculated for 3 main sections of Pascuales-Cuenca pipeline, which supports with oil the provinces of Cañar, Loja, Zamora Chinchipe and Morona Santiago. For the foothill area, the specifi c probability of accidents is the most, and for the coastal and fl at areas less and equals to 0.15 and 0.14, respectively. The performed accident analysis will allow taking the necessary measuresto maintain the pipeline in working condition.
