This study aims to test the reservoir wastewater containing domestic waste using a modified kaolinite adsorbent with Alkyl Benzene Sulfonate surfactant using ultrasonic technology (KM). First, the adsorbent to be used is characterized using several different techniques such as SEM analysis, and FTIR and the calculation of the efficiency of the adsorbent concerning contact time with wastewater. Meanwhile, the wastewater tested was tested for the effect of contact time on TDS and PH. The results of the analysis show that the maximum waste reduction efficiency occurs in modified kaolin (KM), where adsorption occurs faster than in unmodified natural kaolin (PK). The maximum percentage is 84, 21% for metal removal efficiency using modified kaolin at a contact time of 45 minutes and a weight of 1.8 g of adsorbent, while kaolin without modification has an efficiency of 62.47% at a contact time of 80 minutes and a weight of 1.8 g of adsorbent. The contact time test on the TDS value of wastewater that has been adsorbed with KM shows that the TDS value is getting lower over time, which indicates the Hg (II) ion has been dispersed and fused so that the Hg (II) metal in the water is reduced. The use of the adsorption method with the help of ultrasonic technology is proven to be more efficient in accelerating the removal of Hg (II) ions by increasing the surface dispersion of the adsorbent with metal ions in water. The contact time test on the TDS value of wastewater that has been adsorbed with KM shows that the TDS value is getting lower over time, which indicates the Hg (II) ion has been dispersed and fused so that the Hg (II) metal in the water is reduced. Hydrodistillation (HD) systems have been popular for essential oils extraction from medicinal and aromatic plants for several decades. Nevertheless, they substantially consume thermal or electrical energy and have a visible carbon footprint on the environment. This article describes a state‐of‐the‐art review of the HD systems used for essential oil extraction to examine their effectiveness. From this study, it has been found that, for a microwave‐assisted system, the yield of an essential oil varies from 0.079% to 8.62%. The microwave‐assisted hydrodistillation (MAHD) system yields 32% more than a conventional HD system. The average extraction time saved using the MAHD system is 67.17% compared with the traditional one. Ohmic‐assisted HD system is better than the microwave‐assisted and conventional HD system, with an 18.04% enhancement in the yield. During this study, it is also investigated that for the distillation system operating at atmospheric pressure, the extraction temperature ranges from 80°C to 120°C. This temperature can easily be attained in a solar hydrodistillation system. Several investigators have demonstrated the use of solar energy for essential oil extraction. However, these systems mostly use a concentrating collector, henceforth found bulky and expensive.

Chitosan/clay hybrid nanoparticles have been prepared as natural antibacterial and anticorrosion agents to enhance the protective function of polyurethane-based coating paints. Chitosan is a material with antibacterial properties because it contains acetamide group which is widely used for hygiene purposes in the medical field. Clay is a natural clay particle with a hollow structure that allows loading and release of active substances such as surfactant ions that can contribute to improving the properties of the material. The polyurethane in this study was obtained from palm oil oleic acid, which was processed into polyol, toluene diisocyanate was added to produce polyurethane. Coating paint is efficiently loaded with chitosan and clay active substances which are combined to form a hybrid composite. Based on the FTIR data of polyurethane showing the formation of a hydroxyl group on the palm oil epoxide compound, the reaction lasted for 2 hours at 60oC as evidenced by the absorption of the OH wave number which widened at 3305.99 cm-1. The value of the wavelength of the OH group in the bentonite sample before and after purification has decreased, proving that the intercalation of surfactants into the bentonite interlayer causes the hydrophilic nature of bentonite to change to hydrophobicity. The d-spacing layer of raw bentonite has a maximum reflection angle peak of 7.26o with a d-spacing value of 1.132 nm, and the d-spacing size increases to 1.631 nm at the peak of the maximum reflection angle of 4.49o after purification. The presence of absorption at 1064.71 cm-1 in shrimp shell chitosan indicates COC vibration.
