Composition of the oily compounds, phytochemical screening and biological activity of different aerial parts of Smirnovia turkestana Bunge

Abstract: In the present study, chemical composition of the oily compounds isolated from different parts of Smirnovia turkestana (Kashan, central Iran) using n-hexane was determined for the first time. GC-MS analysis revealed that dodecanoic acid, trans-β-ionone and methyl palmitate are the major components of leaves extract. Trans-β-ionone and hexadodecanoic acid were also, identified as the major compounds of flowers extract. Heptacosane, trans-β-ionone and vitamin E acetate were the main components of fruits. Phytoch… Show more

“…The second focus of this study was to analyse the potency of MP in reducing in vivo toxicity of Sorafenib using a promising zebra fish model 59 . The leaf extracts of different plants having MP as main constituent exhibited cytotoxicity, anti‐angiogenesis, anti‐proliferative and apoptosis induction activities on many human cancer cells 40,60‐63 . An in vivo study has proven the hepato‐protective property of MP without causing toxic effects 45 .…”

“…59 The leaf extracts of different plants having MP as main constituent exhibited cytotoxicity, anti-angiogenesis, anti-proliferative and apoptosis induction activities on many human cancer cells. 40,[60][61][62][63] An in vivo study has proven the hepato-protective property of MP without causing toxic effects. 45 From our study results, we conclude that the 3 mmol/L of MP used in this study is a safer dose as the higher tested concentration (5 nmol/L) did not show toxicity to the embryos.…”
