Composition of Solvent‐fractionated Rice Bran Oil

Abstract: Rice bran oil was acetone fractionated at low temperature. Two methods, independent fractionation (−8, −14 and −35C) and sequential fractionation (0, −8 and −14C), were compared for the preparation of triacylglycerol (TG) fraction‐enriched unsaturated fatty acids (UFAs). Among all fractions obtained from both methods, the liquid fraction from independent fractionation at −35C referred to as −35L was the best (89.6%) compared to other procedures used for enrichment of UFAs. However, when weight yield was consid… Show more

“…A fase líquida da cristalização da fração MAG apresenta aproximadamente duas vezes a concentração do ácido docosahexenoico (C22:6) originalmente encontrado no óleo de pescado, indicando que é uma possibilidade para sua separação e purificação. Resultado similar foi encontrado na fase líquida das frações do óleo de arroz cristalizado a baixas temperaturas (YU et al 2006).…”

“…The conical flask was placed in a deep freezer at a temperature of -20ºC for fractionation. The liquid part of RSO (L-RSO) was separated from the solid part of RSO (S-RSO) by decanting after 24 h, and the acetone was evaporated completely from both parts by a rotary vacuum evaporator by a stream of nitrogen (Yu et al, 2006). Then the S-RSO was taken for further use in this study.…”
